leadership positions


First things first, we don't lead. we steer. 

We don't have "control" over anything... it's just like at home, LOL! We're all in the same boat here at MOPS/MOMSnext so instead of leading, we gather input from our members and "steer" our group in that direction. That's why you will often hear the leadership team referred to as the "Steering Team". 

Below is a brief breakdown of our leadership positions and the guidelines of the responsibilies that they include. Inquire to any Steering Member to get a full job description or you can express interest in any position by filling out the Leadership Application (click here).

  • Qualifications & Requirements for all steering team members
    • Understand and support MOPS International mission: To encourage and equip moms of young children to realize their potential as mothers, women, and leaders in relationship with Jesus and in partnership with the local church. 
    • Have a heart to serve the women who attend DM MOPS, whether regularly or for the first time. 
    • We prefer you to have actively participated in MOPS at Davis Monthan or at another location.
    • Keep conversations with Steering Team members as well as moms confidential.
    • Have the personal ability & agree to do your absolute best to attend all MOPS events.
    • Agree to abide by the Steering Team Code of Conduct & Social Media Policy.
    •  Support fellow Steer members and MOPS moms with encouragement and prayer.
    • Be able to pass a background and fingerprint check.

  • coordinator
    • Organize, assist and support members of the Steering Team in their duties.
    • Make sure DM MOPS stays in communication with and in compliance with guidelines and regulations put forth by MOPS Intl, DM Chapel, DMAFB, and other entities.
    • Manage Steering changeover prior to semester start.
    • Keep Job Guidelines up to date and communicate them to fellow Steering Team members.
    • Inventory and organize files and any supplies in storage.*
    • Plan Steering Team Retreat.
    • Interview MOPS Kids workers with Kids Coordinator.
    • Attend private org meetings such as base-wide event organizational meetings, Heart Link, etc*
    • Ensures the group adheres to the constitution and bylaws.
    • Lead Steering Team meetings; take minutes/notes during meetings, recording them for private org submission.
    • Create a meeting itinerary. Arrange things needed for meetings: speakers, printouts, discussion questions, etc, as necessary.*
    • Assist with meeting setup & cleanup.
    • Oversee the MOPS financial accounts (Vantage, PayPal, Venmo).*
    • Plans end of the year thank you gifts or cards or dinner for Steering Team members.
    • Maintain Facebook closed group membership.*
  • assistant coordinator
    • Primary duties include assisting Coordinator, fundraising, and devotional preparation.
    • Gets option of first refusal for Coordinator/President role should the current coordinator step down or PCS.
    • Start touching base with potential fundraising locations including MNO and for playdates.
    • Check for prayer requests and share them in the Steering Team FB group.
    • Interview MOPS Kids workers with Kids Coordinator if the Coordinator or MOPS Kids Coordinator is unable to attend.
    • Fill out the necessary paperwork and arrange a meeting to receive a Vantage West card.
    • Inventory and organize files and any supplies in storage.*
    • Assist with planning the Steering Team retreat.
    • Attend private org meetings such as base-wide event organizational meetings, Heart Link, etc*
    • Present potential fundraisers and fundraiser updates to Steering Team.
    • Assist with meeting setup & cleanup.
    • Prepares devotional video or reading at the beginning of a group meeting.
    • Assist with maintaining Facebook closed group membership.*
  • Finance & membership coordinator
    • Primary duties include overseeing finance and memberships records as well as ensuring good stewardship of MOPS funds.
    • Work with Coordinator on how spreadsheets will be arranged for easy access/understanding by both parties.
    • Prepare budget tracking spreadsheets in DM MOPS Google Drive.
    • Fill out the necessary paperwork to receive a Vantage West card.
    • Gather numbers from previous year's operation to present during Steering Retreat to set upcoming year's budget.
    • Present up to date account balances and budget updates at Steering Meetings.
    • Collect receipts & make reimbursements, if necessary.
    • Assist with meeting setup & cleanup.
    • Help moms check-in; make sure to register new moms.
    • Collect and deposit dues.
    • Pays MOPS Kids workers at the end of meetings.*
    • Oversee the MOPS financial accounts (Vantage, PayPal, Venmo).
    • Create/Turn in End of Year expense report to the private org office. (June/July)
    • Send DM MOPS registration links to new moms. 
    • Send invoices and reminders to moms who need to pay. 
    • Maintain records of membership dues, who has paid, who needs to pay, etc. 
  • MOPS Kids coordinator
    • Primary duties include management of MOPS Kids/childcare and organizing playdates.
    • Interviews (with Coordinator) new MOPS Kids workers.* 
    • Secures MOPS Kids curriculum and crafts.
    • Secures necessary paperwork from and for MOPS Kids workers.(Should be already done- see Coordinator to locate)
    • Training, background check and fingerprinting completed for all MOPS Kids workers. 
    • Oversees online registration 
    • Prepare MOPS kids ”Welcome” letters (Should be already done- see Coordinator to locate)
    • Work with Hospitality/Sunshine Coordinator to organize worker meet & greet brunch.*
    • Maintain waitlist and notify moms of new MOPS Kids slots.
    • Assist with meeting setup & cleanup.
    • Make sure moms check-in kids.
    • Ensure proper teacher: student ratios. 
    • Make sure MOPS kids workers get paid at the end of meetings.*
    • Confirm MOPS Kids workers will be present for meetings & find a sub for absent MOPS Kids workers, if necessary.
    • Keeps MOPS kids’ shelf and cabinets organized.
    • Purchases needed supplies.
    • Schedule playdates*
    • Plan Christmas/Appreciation/End-of-year cards and/or gifts for MOPS Kids workers working with Creative Activities Coordinator to supply handmade gifts. *
  • Publicity & Outreach coordinator
    • Primary duties include updating the website, managing the social media accounts as well as coordinating outreach events and opportunities.
    • Start collecting/creating graphics from MOPS Publicity Coordinator Facebook pages or other sources for recruitment, meetings, and events.
    • Create, get approved, and purchase magnets and info cards with meeting dates. 
    • Create Steering Team “Getting to Know You” graphics.
    • Update DM MOPS Facebook “About” pages and Yola site.
    • Share upcoming outreach opportunities at Steering Team Meetings
    • Create graphics for meetings and other events as requested.
    • Assist with meeting setup & cleanup.
    • Encourage inviting of friends & sharing of events over Facebook groups.
    • Attend private org meetings such as base-wide event organizational meeting, Heart Link, etc*
    • Organize Outreach Events
    • Distribute DM MOPS info to AFRC, Bundles for Babies, Heartlink, Base-wide events, public spaces on base.*
    • Create engagement posts on FB in both the public page and private group DM MOPS pages. (Recruitment, encouragement, meetings/events, mom memes, blog articles, interactive/question graphics, etc.)
    • Share public events or fundraisers with other DM Facebook groups.*
  • creative activities coordinator
    • Primary duties include planning and purchasing for creative activities, decorations & various creative elements of the meetings.
    • Work with the Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator to organize and inventory craft supplies.
    • Start collecting/creating ideas from MOPS Creative Activities Facebook pages, Pinterest, or other sources for nametags, centerpieces, entry table, meeting crafts, special meeting decor, coloring sheets, and gifts using existing supplies whenever possible.
    • Draft, get approved, purchase supplies, and assemble* nametags, centerpieces, and entry table decor prior to first meeting.
    • Share upcoming meeting crafts & special meeting decor with Steering Team.
    • Prepare and print directions, if needed.
    • Prepare any elements, as needed.*
    • Gather necessary supplies- by donation, borrowing or purchasing.
    • Assist with meeting setup & cleanup.
    • Instruct moms on craft in person or via handout or video.
    • Work with MOPS Kids Coordinator to create handmade Christmas/Appreciation/End-of-year cards and/or gifts for MOPS Kids workers.*
  • hospitality & sunshine coordinator
    • Primary duties include ensuring every mom is seen, heard, and cared for as well as stocking the brunch buffet.
    • Work with MOPS KidsCoordinator to organize worker meet & greet brunch.*
    • Identify new moms and those going through life changes (PCS, baby, sick, etc.) Arrange meal train, if requested. 
    • Assist with meeting setup & cleanup.
    • Take food back to the brunch table.
    • Keep track of and announce birthdays!*
    • Attend Heartlink meetings.* 
    • Reach out to new moms after their first meeting.
    • Inventory/purchase brunch supplies. (Plates, utensils, cups, coffee, creamer, extra service flatware, etc.) 
    • Create and post brunch sign up genius.
